ABOUT US
The North West Academy exists to close the gap between grassroots football and the professional pathway. We offer an academy‑level experience for talented players who aren’t quite ready for the professional environment but want to take the next step in their development.
We support — not replace — local grassroots clubs. Our aim is to strengthen players’ understanding of the game and elevate their technical skills while they continue representing their home clubs.
Our training programme includes specialist sessions across all positions, from goalkeeping to attacking play, delivered by UEFA‑qualified coaches and former professional players.
Alongside our weekly Centre of Excellence, players will take part in our annual international tour in Spain, competing in a tournament of over 400 teams. Selected squads face professional academies and join forces with our US partners, Queen City Mutiny FC.
We also work closely with QCM in North Carolina to offer pathway opportunities for players interested in exploring football development in the United States.

Coach's at NWA will receive dedicated mentoring to deliver a syllabus aligned with the highest academy standards, ensuring young players develop the discipline, professionalism and expectations required to reach elite levels.
With strong club connections across the UK, we’ll be closely monitoring emerging talent and preparing players for exciting opportunities, including the chance to be identified by North West scouts.

Pre-Academy 4-7yrs - Select a package from 1 - 2 nights weekly. Our Pre Academy runs every Sunday and Tuesday.
Boys 8-16yrs - Select a package from 1 - 3 nights midweek with Sunday Match Fixture.
Girls - 8-16yrs - Initially launching our Centre of Excellence 1 night per week. Watch this space for the full academy roll out.
Goalkeeper Academy - 8-16yrs - Our Goalkeeper Academy runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every week.

NWA is a very exciting project which has had huge initial interest. I'm excited to see what young talent comes through the door and how we can support their journey in football.
It can be a long and frustrating journey so preparing young players for the highs and lows of the professional game is essential.
I also believe that our international relationships will really support the players development into the wider opportunities and careers in football and sport on the whole.

Football development is about structure. There is a strategy and formula in how a complete and rounded player is developed. This isn't a negative view on grass roots football, but it does have its limitations.
With NWA offering this structure and high level delivery, it reduces the chances of young potential players never really reaching their full potential.
We all dream of playing in the premier league, but we can also set realistic opportunities for young players having varied options and opportunities for a future in the game.

I’m joining NWA because I’m passionate about passing on my experience and knowledge as a current professional footballer. The role of a defender has evolved massively in recent years, with modern players expected to be complete, all‑round contributors in every phase of the game. Developing match understanding, positional intelligence, and the habits of an elite defender from a young age is now essential for anyone aiming to progress into the professional game.

I’m excited to join NWA and share the knowledge, standards, and experiences I’ve gained as a professional goalkeeper at Bolton FC. The modern goalkeeper is no longer just a shot‑stopper — we’re expected to command the box, play with our feet, and influence every phase of the game. Developing these skills early is crucial, and I’m passionate about helping young keepers build the technical ability, confidence, and game understanding needed to progress towards the professional level.

A career in football has become one of the most difficult areas to get seen in recent years with pro looks mostly seeking players from overseas and from around the world.
It's important that NWA develop the highest level of coaching and with good club relationships, we can give young players the opportunity to be seen.
Nathans ambition is what led me to supporting this project and with so few players being developed locally in recent years, it will be nice to see what standards can be produced by giving kids the right environment to learn.

I’m a UEFA B qualified coach with years of experience delivering high‑quality sessions at Manchester United Soccer Schools, Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools, and Crewe Alexandra. My journey has shaped me into a coach who understands both the challenges and the opportunities young players face, and I’m committed to helping them grow with the same dedication and love for the game that has driven me throughout my career.
